United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

United Nations Sustainable Development GoalsThe Sustainable Development Goals are a call for action by all countries – poor, rich, and middle-income – to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. They recognize that ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth and address a range of social needs including education, health, social protection, and job opportunities while tackling climate change and environmental protection.  The 17 Goals were adopted by all UN Member States in 2015, as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which set out a 15-year plan to achieve the Goals.

This guide has suggested texts for each of the 16 main goals.  (The 17th goal, Developing Partnerships, is excluded.) WSA 10th Graders choose one of the listed texts to analyze for their ERP (Extended Research Project).

The pages in this guide have more information about the goals, and the texts that can be used for the ERP.  See:

Goal 1 - No Poverty Goal 2 - Zero Hunger Goal 3 - Good Health and Well-Being Goal 4 - Quality Education
Goal 5 - Gender Equality Goal 6 - Clean Water and Sanitation Goal 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy Goal 8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth
