Summer Reading Choices

Over the summer rising 6th and 7th graders are required to read TWO books from this list of recommended reads. The rules:

Read books that are NEW to you (no re-reading favorites!)
No more than one can be a graphic novel.

The Summer Reading Choices list for students in Grades 6 and 7 has lots of books, both fiction and nonfiction, in a variety of genres and formats - something for everyone! In the fall, there will be assignments in English class related to summer reading. Questions? Email Susan Trower

Over the summer rising 6th and 7th graders are required to read two books from the Summer Reading Choices list. Download either the "long" list with book descriptions (organized by genre section) or the "short" list with all the titles shown together in alphabetical order.

2021 Summer Reading Choices: Grades 6 and 7 - Titles, authors, and book descriptions
Titles in this list are organized by the six sections of this guide ( Blast from the Past & True Story; Contemp(ish) Realistic Fiction; Sports Fiction & Novels in Verse; Magic, New Worlds, & Adventure; Thrills, Chills, & Puzzles; Graphic Novels ) and then alphabetically by title within each section. For each book, you can find the number of pages, genre(s), the series name (if any), and a plot summary. If a book title has either the Kitsap Regional Library or Port Townsend Libray logo that means they have a copy that you can borrow.
