Theatre-maker Intentions

Theatre-maker intentions - IB Theatre Teacher Support MaterialTheatre-maker Intentions

You will need to plan your entire production with intention and your imagination.

What message, theme, or issues do you want the audience to think about during and after they watch your production?

How are you going to create those ideas using the words of the script, performance elements, and production elements?

By choosing a specific stage (Thrust, Proscenium, Arena, Black Box) what impact do you want this arrangement between audience and performers to have on the experience?

Types of performance spaces - WSAIBTheatre.org, Gretchen Nordleaf-NelsonSome common performance spaces include:

  • Proscenium
  • End-on
  • Thrust
  • In the round
  • Traverse
  • Site-specific
  • Promenade
  • Experimental audience positioning (for example the audience in the center, above or below the action, and so on)
