Summer Reading 2016: Grades 8 & 9

Required reading and summer reading choices lists for WSA students in Grades 6-9.

2016 Summer Reading Choices

The Summer Reading Choices list for students in Grades 8 and 9 has twenty books, fiction and nonfiction, in a variety of genres - something for everyone!.  

 
All students starting Grade 8 in Fall Semester, 2016, are required to read ONE book from the Summer Reading Choices List for Grades 8 and 9 AND one book for English:  Animal Farm: A Fairy Story, by George Orwell.

 

All students starting Grade 9 in Fall Semester, 2016, are required to read ONE book from the Summer Reading Choices List for Grades 8 and 9 AND one book for English:  The Hobbit, or, There and Back Again, by J. R. R. Tolkien.

 

8th and 9th grade students will be expected to briefly summarize their free choice book in the first week of school.  

The required books will be discussed in depth in the fall.
