Article 2 - Don't Discriminate

Article 2.

Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty.

Article 2 - Don't Discriminate
Article 2 of the UDHR is the basic article declaring the rights and freedoms to anyone no matter their race or gender. In this exhibit you will find links to various articles that tell of people and events today where basic rights and freedoms are violated. Article - No Slavery

Article 4.

No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.

Article 4 - No Slavery
This Digital Exhibit talks about slavery and how even though the slave trade is prohibited it still happens all around the world today. In this exhibit you will find links to websites highlighting specific issues relating to slavery, a collection of poems addressing slavery, a piece of artwork inspired by the topic, an infographic breaking down the data of modern day slavery, and an article about ways to help get involved in the fight to stop slavery. Slavery still happens worldwide today, devastating the lives of more than 20 million people. We need to stop pretending slavery doesn't happen. One way to help end slavery is to educate ourselves about it, advocate and act on behalf of those in bondage. Article 5 - Freedom from Inhumane Treatment

Article 5.

No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.

Article 5 - Freedom from Inhumane Treatment
This exhibit is focused on Article 5 from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights banning the use of inhumane treatment and torture. In this digital exhibit, you will find links to articles about recent violations of Article 5 along with several poems and a slideshow of drawings about human rights. Article 7 - We're All Equal Before the Law

Article 7.

All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law. All are entitled to equal protection against any discrimination in violation of this Declaration and against any incitement to such discrimination.

Article 7 - We're All Equal Before the Law
This digital exhibit is specifically focusing on article 7 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR); it says that everyone is entitled to equal protection from discrimination. In this exhibit you will find examples of modern day discrimination (and ways to prevent it) in linked articles, poems, websites, pictures, artwork, and podcasts. The exhibit asks visitors to their site to help stop racism and for the community of black, indigenous, and people of color to have equal rights and to not be discriminated against. "If everyone educates, helps, and changes people, the world will be closer to peace and you would be one to say you helped make the world a better place." Article 13.

(1) Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state.
(2) Everyone has the right to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country.

Article 13 - Freedom to Move
This website explains Article 13 of the Declaration of Human Rights, difficulties in enforcing it, and the many times it is broken around the world. People are forced to stay in their countries, or kept out of their countries, or are not allowed movement within their countries regularly. Article 19.

Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.

This exhibit explores the right to freedom of speech and the ways people can show their identity and character. Learn about these rights in the exhibit's poems, articles, pictures, infographics, and more! The exhibit also explains how essential it is to help organizations such as American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Human Rights Watch (HRW), and others, as a way of protecting our freedom of speech and thought.
