Lost Einsteins: The Innovations We’re Missing
The article evaluates recent research by Raj Chetty, a Stanford professor leading the Equality of Opportunity Project. The project's latest paper looks at who in the United States becomes inventors, and who doesn't, and compares that to the financial resources of families. The paper makes the point that there are “lost Einsteins” - people who could “have had highly impactful innovations” - if they had been able to pursue the opportunities they deserved but were stymied by intrenched inequalities of access to resources. Author: David Leonhardt, writing for the New York Times.
